Porticoed Street of Cornello dei Tasso

The most famous element of Cornello is the arcade with medieval structure, which runs through the village. The entrance arches are located on both sides of the arcade and indicate the presence of ancient portals, now removed, which during the night were closed in order to isolate the village.

Along the arcade looking downhill we find the doorways to the first row of buildings while facing uphill there are the entrances to the old workshops and stables, which were the commercial hearth of the town.

In the Middle Ages Cornello hosted the only market of the Brembana Valley and here, just under the porticoed street, merchants coming from northern regions and the bottom of the valley exchanged wares, money and ideas.
